WITH SINCERE APOLOGIES TO OVID

↓ ABOUT

"O gods inspire us
To shamelessly shred your verse
Into an unholy orgy of poetry, stage blood and Kanye West references."

  • Probably not Ovid

Montague Basement once again bring their unique take on mythology to the Sydney Fringe. Bursting through 15 Books of the finest Latin poetry known to man with pathos, irreverence, humour and energy. Two people cheekily re-enacting every great myth they can get their hands on? We like to think it’s what Ovid would have wanted and if it’s not… we frankly don’t care.

Why adapt one story when you can adapt them all?

↓ REVIEWS

"This irreverent exploration of the 15 books of the Roman poet Ovid’s Metamorphoses is the most ambitious and inventive work I’ve seen in this year’s Sydney Fringe to date."

"These theatre-makers are consistently punching above their weight, and are creating intelligent, insightful, and assured pieces of theatre which make you think about the world we live in for days afterwards."

"Metamorphoses is marked by boldness in its creation and realisation."

"What it lacks in finesse, this production certainly makes up for in entertainment value."
